Hiring for work from home jobs in India has seen a three-fold jump in the last few months, compared to pre-Covid levels earlier this year, according to data from job board Naukri.

At the same time work-from-home jobs have seen a seven-fold increase in applications in the last few months compared to the pre-Covid levels this year. In 2020, the percentage contribution from work-from-jobs increased four-fold when compared to 2019.

‘Work-From-Home’ has been one of the top three most searched keywords by jobseekers in the last five months on Naukri.com platform.

Approximately half of remote job postings are from the Business Process Outsourcing/IT Enabled Services sector, resulting in robust growth of work-from-home jobs from the industry. IT-software, education/teaching and internet/e-commerce contribute to another quarter of work-from-home jobs

Naukri also noted that work-from-home jobs have emerged in unlikely sectors such as publishing, Banking Financial Services and Insurance and education/teaching that have conventionally required the physical presence of the employee. However, the most impacted industries like travel and staffing continue to decline in hiring even in remote jobs.

Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer at Naukri.com said that it was interesting to note that traditional, office-based or on-ground roles such as sales/ business development and customer care agents are now being offered with work from home options.
