The Guam Department of Labor is hiring 24 people to assist the Department
of Public Health and Social Services with data collection and data entry.
Funded by the National Dislocated Worker Grant, the program is seeking individuals who have been laid off or furloughed from their job as a direct result of COVID-19. The department is recruiting 12 data control clerks and 12 community program aides for six-month terms. Both positions pay $10.14 an hour.
“In our fight against COVID-19 and the surge in cases, contact tracing is an essential tool to help stop the spread. These positions provide an important support role and allow our contact tracers to focus on tracing,” said project manager Catrina Contreras. “For these positions, I’m looking for individuals who understand the importance and strict application of data confidentiality and entering data accurately.”
Primary duties for data control clerks include:
- Assisting the contract tracing team with data entry of information gathered from the field and through investigations.
- Retrieving data and data verification.
Primary duties for community program aides include:
- Assisting program staff with disease surveillance activities and epidemiological investigations of contacts.
- Assisting in outreach programs.
Most duties will be performed in office and over the phone
“By helping Public Health identify individuals who have been infected and ensuring they get the treatment they need we can reduce our numbers and save lives. The staff there is so short-handed with a massive workload. By providing extra employees we can help alleviate some of that so the Public Health employees can concentrate on more important tasks,” said Labor Director David Dell’Isola.
The Labor Department recently used a Dislocated Worker Grant to find people to help with COVID-19 maintenance and sanitation efforts. The agency hired 18 maintenance workers and housekeepers to help with clean-up efforts to help prevent the further spread of the virus.
